Group Meeting: It was good to get back to school today. We took down the holiday items and added a few new things to the classroom including a Pizza Restaurant in the Housekeeping Area. We will be talking about snow and the cold weather for the next two days. The children were invited to paint a Popsicle stick snowflake and sprinkle it with glitter at the art center .
Small Groups: The children drew pictures of something that they remembered from the Christmas holiday. We saw drawings of gifts, family members, Christmas trees, and snow.
Story: The story for today was The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats. This is the story of Peter who discovers that it has snowed while he was sleeping. He puts on his snow suit and heads outside to play in the snow. Ask your child to tell you something that Peter liked to do in the snow.
Large Group: Following our story, the children had a snowball fight using paper snowballs. We put a tape line down the center of the classroom and put a group of children on each side. The children had to try to throw all of the snowballs over to the other side, while their classmates were trying to throw them back.
Letter Learning: The letter for today was Mm.
Snacks: The morning snack person was Khloe. She brought Teddy Grahams, Emoji Grahams, and juice. The afternoon snack person was Luke. He brought apples, Cheez-its, and milk. Thank you, Khloe and Luke!
