Group Meeting: I had three different types of flour for the children to experience today; whole wheat, rye, and corn. The children compared the texture and colors of the different flours. Tomorrow, we will be making corn bread.
Small Groups: The activities for this week are listed in Monday's post. The schedule for today was:
Activity #1 Green Group
Activity #2 Red Group
Activity #3 Yellow Group
Story: Today, I did a re-read of Sun Bread by Elisa Kleven. This is the story of a baker who bakes a large sun shaped bread to help cheer everyone out of their winter weather grumbling. This book is written in poetry form, so I could leave off the last word and see if the children could guess the rhyme.
Large Group: The children did gross motor activities using lines of tape on the floor. We walked on the lines and between the lines. We jumped, hopped, and stretched to see how many lines we could straddle.
Letter Learning: We completed the alphabet yesterday, so the next two days will be a quick review until we start all over again next week.
Snacks: The morning class had Nutrigrain bars brought by Isaac. The afternoon class had Teddy Grahams and juice brought by Emmy. Thank you, Isaac and Emmy!
