Group Meeting: I read the story of The Little Red Hen as told by Brooke Dobkin. This story is going to help us start a discussion of bread for our Bread Study. Our small group activities this week will also be about this story.
Small Groups: The activities for this week are listed below as well as the schedule for this afternoon.
Activity #1 (Red Group) The children were asked to identify how many syllables (claps) were in some of the words in our story. They recorded their answers on a paper to take home.
Activity #2 (Yellow Group) The children took turns rolling a dice on which pictures of the characters from the story were printed. They recorded the rolls on a graph and compared the number of rolls each character received.
Activity #3 (Green Group) The children counted items from the story in a ten frame and marked the corresponding numeral with a dauber.
Story: During story time, I reread the story of The Little Red Hen. The Little Red Hen has found wheat seeds. Will her friends help her plant them, harvest the wheat, take the wheat to the millers, and bake bread? Ask your child to tell you how the story ends.
Large Group: The children took turns being the characters from the story and performed a play for the rest of the class.
Snacks: The snack person in the afternoon was Lyndsey. She brought Goldfish and juice. Thank you, Lyndsey!
