Bread Study

Group Meeting:  Last week, we did a little exploring on the subject of bread, and we have decided to do a study of bread.  A note is in your child's backpack today explaining what we will be doing as we learn about bread.  If you have any questions about this study, please let me know.  I will be posting the things that we do and will be trying to take a few pictures as well.

Small Groups:  Because of the shortened week, we will not be breaking into small groups, but will be using this time to explore our study topic.  Today, we made a list of everything that we know about bread.  Tomorrow, we will make a list of things that we would like to know about bread.

Story:  The story for today was Marisol McDonald Does Not Match by Monica Brown.  Nothing about Marisol McDonald matches.  Her name, her clothes, her skin and hair.  However, Marisol likes being different.  She likes to dress in polka dots and stripes.  She likes to play pirate and soccer at the same time.  One day, she decides to match.  She dresses in one color and plays the same games that everyone else wants to play.  Ask your child to tell you if that makes her happy.  At the end of the story, Marisol gets a puppy and gives it an unusual name.  Can your child remember the name?

Large Group:  In the morning, the children played with Stomp Boards.  The Stomp Boards are levers that you lay on the floor.  After putting a bean bag on one end, they stomp on the board to propel the beanbag into the air.  In the afternoon, the Red Group had show and tell items that we missed last week due to early out.  I think we are all caught up now.  No more snowy weather please!

Letter Learning:  The letter for today was Rr.

Snacks:  The morning class snack person was Spencer.  He brought cheese, crackers, and juice.  In the afternoon, the children made Snowman faces which was the Birthday Day snack from last week.
