Mat Man

Group Meeting:  The children have begun to notice that they can "read" the message board when they enter school.  Many of them sit down on the rug and tell each other what we will be doing during class.   We are getting to know the Pledge of Allegiance pretty well.

Small Groups:  The activities for the small groups are listed in yesterday's post.  The children have been assigned a color group.  I'm hoping that they will be able to tell you what group they are in soon.  If not, they should be able to remember their activity for the day.  The schedule for today was:
Activity #1  Yellow Group
Activity #2 Green Group
Activity #3 Red Group

Story:  Our story for today was Peeny Butter Fudge by Toni and Slade Morrison.  In this story, the children are going to spend the day with Nana while mom is away.  Nana has a lot of fun activities planned such as gunny sack races, puzzles, stories, and naps.  But the best activity of all is making Peeny Butter Fudge.  Will the children get it done by the time Mom gets back?  Ask your child to tell you what happens next.

Large Group:  Yesterday, the children were introduced to Mat Man.  Today, each child was given a piece of Mat Man to add to his body while we listened to his song.  Tomorrow, we will learn to draw Mat Man.

Snacks:  The snack person for the morning class was Dominic.  He brought carrots, ranch dip, and juice.  The snack person for the afternoon was Charlie.  She brought bread, ham, cheese, and milk.  Thank you!
