Group Meeting: Every child has a new job today, so we took a few minutes to check out the Job Chart. We also added play dough to the art table, which was a huge hit, so we took a few minutes to learn about what we can do with play dough.
Small Groups: The list of children has been divided into three groups; the Red Group, the Yellow Group, and the Green Group. At the beginning of the week, I will list the group activities for the whole week. Your child will soon remember what color group he or she is in so that you will know the activity for the day. This weeks schedule is:
Activity #1 (Red Group): The children have writing and drawing journals at school. This week, they will be drawing a picture of him or her self on the first page.
Activity #2 (Yellow Group): The children used a 10 frame to count colored chips. We will use 10 frames throughout the year to count. This activity is an introduction to a 10 frame.
Activity #3 (Green Group) The children used the wooden lines and curves from the Handwriting Without Tears program to make letters.
Story: The story for today was Charlie Anderson by Barbara Abercrombie and Mark Graham. Charlie is a cat that spends his nights in the home of Elizabeth and Sarah. During the day, Charlie goes outside into the woods, at least that's what Elizabeth and Sarah think. One night, Charlie doesn't come home for supper. Where can he be? Ask your child to tell you what Elizabeth and Sarah learn about Charlie.
Large Group: The children are learning about Mat Man. Mat Man is a person made of the wooden lines and curves from our handwriting program. We use Mat Man to help the children learn about body parts and how to draw a person. Tomorrow, the children will use the pieces to make Mat Man on their own.
Snacks: The morning snack person was Brooke S. She brought bagels, raspberry jelly, and juice. The afternoon snack person was Cameron. He brought whale crackers and juice. Thank you!
