Group Meeting: Our author/illustrator for this week is Theodor Seuss Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss. I read The Foot Book as an introduction to his work.
Small Groups: The activities for this week are listed below. The children will not be in their usual color groups this week as we are preparing for the Art Show. You will have to ask your child which activity he or she participated in today.
Activity #1 (The Foot Book) The children measured one of their feet using Unifix cubes and a ruler. They recorded their findings on a paper to take home.
Activity #2 (Ten Apples Up On Top) The children used daubers to create apples on the animals heads to match the numerals printed below them.
Activity #3 I can't tell you about this one. It's for the Art Show. Top Secret!
Story: At story time, I read Ten Apples Up On Top by Dr. Seuss. The children remembered this book as I had read it in the Fall as we prepared for our field trip to the apple orchard. Three animals are balancing apples on their heads. Will they let the apples drop?
Large Group: The children watched a video about Dr. Seuss and completed the Let's Find Out magazine that corresponded with it.
Snacks: The morning class had graham crackers, peanut butter and juice. The afternoon class had apples and juice brought by Melanie. Thank you, Melanie!
