Group Meeting: Today was birthday day. We had a lot planned and the weather was beautiful, so we got right to work so that we could spend as much time as possible outside.
Small Groups: For a snack, we made Pigs in a Blanket. In our story yesterday, the pigeon loved his hot dog and shared it with Duckling. To make a Pig in a Blanket, the children flattened biscuit dough and wrapped it around a half of a hot dog. We put them in the oven.
Story: The story for today was Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late by Mo Willems. Pigeon insists that he is not tired. However, he is yawning a little. Pigeon tries to convince us that he does not need to go to bed. Ask your child to tell you how this ends.
Large Group: The children went outside and spent all of play time in the Outdoor Classroom. It was wonderful.
Letter Learning: During this week, I have been putting short sentences on the board about the Mo Willem stories that we have been reading. We have pointed out the beginning letters of some of the words and have pointed out two sight words: the and to.
Snacks: The children enjoyed Pigs in the Blankets with a choice of ketchup and mustard with juice to drink. Birthday Brownies were enjoyed as well!
